WIFO is the leading provider of economic analysis and economic policy consulting in Austria. The institute was founded in 1926 by Friedrich August von Hayek und Ludwig von Mises. WIFO is a nonpartisan and non-profit organisation. Research at WIFO aims at supporting the formulation of well-founded decisions in the area of economic policy making and to objectify public discussions on economic policy issues.

Austrian Research Centers GmbH – ARC, systems research a wide range of disciplines - economics and social sciences to natural sciences - who come together in interdisciplinary teams. The five business units - Technology Policy, Regional Studies, Technology Management, Technology Transfer and Environmental Planning - deal with a broad range of issues. One of our main topics is technological change and innovation systems. Recent approaches to innovation are analysed and used in technology policy design and implementation. The implementation of research results increasingly demands a transdisciplinary approach involving the customer, various institutions and the general public.

Joanneum Research

The Institute of Technology and Regional Policy (InTeReg) is a socio-economic research institute of Joanneum Research Ltd., a major center for applied research in Austria. We undertake research and advisory work at the interface of science, economy and politics, and offer our clients scientifically based decision support in the fields of technology and innovation policy, regional policy and labour market policy.

Our objectives are to advance the understanding of new developments in science, technology and innovation and its resulting challenges for policy and policy measures. For this we collect and analyse empirical data and use theoretical concepts and quantitative approaches in order to support policy makers on the national and international level. The research activities cover activities such as background studies, modelling, design of policy measures, evaluations and impact analysis.

InTeReg's wide range of research and consulting activities mainly addresses those who are concerned with the development and implementation of science, technology and labour policy and those concerned with the management of various measures.
